Agents · Memory and Context¶
Covers memory categories, short- and long-term storage, retrieval and use, and context compression.
Start with Chapter 7 to distinguish memory scope, content, and storage. Then read Chapter 8 on write consistency and access control, and use Chapter 10 to check whether state can still be recovered and evidence located after compression. Persistence answers “Is the data still there?”, retrieval answers “Can we find it?”, and context construction answers “What did the model actually see in this invocation?” None can substitute for the others.
Persistence, caching, and deletion behavior differs across frameworks and APIs. When reading an example, also check the version and scope specified in the chapter.
